Halloween Week 2020 - Pumpkin Carving

By 17:00

This Halloween may be a different experience for everyone however I still wanted to make my flat as Halloweeny as possible. So as with every other year I recently spent an afternoon carving pumpkins and wanted to share the process with you.

Obviously the most important part of the pumpkin carving process is choosing the perfect pumpkin.  This year I picked up my pumpkin from a local supermarket however I did also pick up a squash from the local veg shop to carve aswell.

I started by carving the hole in the top of both the pumpkin and squash, this is the part that I always find the hardest as I always end up carving the hole too small so I can't get the pulp out.

The next thing I did was look around for some inspiration on what shapes to cut. For this I always use Instagram and Pinterest! I found some absolutely amazing ones however I chose to recreate a monsters Inc pumpkin I found on the pumpkin and then carve a traditional scary face onto the squash.

I finished the pumpkin with a chocolate eye ball in the place I had left for the eye to give the pumpkin a more realistic look.
